Thomas Jefferson called the teaching of Jesus the most sublime code of morals ever offered to man — and then took a razor to his Bible and cut out everything that made Jesus more than a teacher. Gandhi said the Sermon on the Mount went straight to his heart. Both men admired the teaching. Both declined the teacher. In this final message of our Sermon on the Mount series, Pastor Justin Sturgeon walks through the parable of the two builders in Matthew 7:24-29. Two men heard the same words, built identical houses, and faced the same storm. Only one of them put what he heard into practice. We look at what Jesus' first audience heard in the language of flood and foundation, why the temple in Jerusalem was the house everyone assumed could never fall, and what it means that Jesus put his own words in its place.
