Paticipating in the New Normal: Listening to the Holy Spirit
One of the most familiar verses in Revelation is also one of the most misread. Jesus stands at a door and knocks — but he is not standing outside the heart of a stranger. He is standing outside the door of his own church. Guest pastor David Mettler brings this week's message from Revelation 3:20-22, the closing words of Jesus' letter to the church in Laodicea. It is an invitation to a congregation that had grown comfortable and self-sufficient, and the offer on the other side of that door is not a transaction but a shared table. The passage ends the way all seven letters end: whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. That is the question this message puts in front of us. Are we listening?
